Section 4 of KSB Act of 1988 directly and indirectly requires KSB to embrace a public relation and advocacy role. To this effect, a PR and Resource mobilization have clear roles well outlined in the Act.
- Mandate 1: has to do with tracing visually impaired children out of school and ensuring they are taken to school, sponsoring a teacher through training in KISE to support the child, supporting the child and the school with basic assistive devices and learning materials and sponsoring the child if need be.
- Mandate 2: has to do will offering advice on quality and welfare matters. For instance KSB is a close partner to the informal education Department and KEBS
- Mandate 3: Through awareness forums and by engaging the media
- To advise on all things necessary or required in any matter to or connected with the blind.
